DIAGNOSIS
Pros of the current situation of vocational guidance:
- Increased demand - increased awareness of the role of counsellor, although it is feared that this applies only to declaratory level, it is recommended to recognize the willingness of adolescents to be assisted by counseling services .
- Effects largely depend on the involvement of consellour and client.
- The tools base is developing.
- The ability to plan for a lifelong perspective is increasing.
Drawbacks of the current situation of vocational guidance:
- Unstable labour market - the lack of information about jobs, the rapid changes in demand for workers and their skills, the unpredictability of the market and lack of foresight tools.
- Lack of real conviction about the need for counselling services. In the most cases the teachers (not parents or the pupil himself) lead the youth to be assisted by professional counsellors, although the use of the help of counsellor is a marginal phenomenon (approximately 5-7% of adolescents had contact with a counsellor).
- Lack of real support from teachers.
- "Blur" from the formal side - the division, the lack of integration at school level.
- Too much of a burden due to lack of counsellors working in the education system.
- Parents expect the consellours to confirm their proposals, or consider that vocational guidance applies only to special groups.
- The vocational guidance is restricted to a single intervention, it is not possible to meet with client systematically, creation of the process is impossible.
- Lack of information base for counsellors (lack of information about consellours).
